Yesterday I received the most self-validating comments in terms of my driving skills. As I was driving a van full of attorneys back to their hotel, one of the them asked me the usual barrage of questions: where are you from, where did you go to undergraduate, why did you come to law school, what type of law do you want to practice. I gave my answers and continued to have a conversation with one of the attorneys who had participated in democracy building and re-writing the Constitution in Yugoslavia years ago. When we reached the hotel one of the attorneys pulled me aside. She proceeded to tell me that I was her favorite driver. “You drive fast and assertively, but still cautiously. And when you said you were from Los Angeles, I knew that was why you are such a good driver.” I just stood there, thanked her, and quietly reveled in the fact that indeed, I was a good driver :)
