Sana Bull Riding
Probably the first time Sana has ever even attended a party on Sunset Blvd. was for his own graduation party at Saddle Ranch. Unbeknownst to us, there was a bull riding competition – with the first place winner receiving $100. Sana, Nima and I all entered the competition, and now I have bruises to prove it. During the course of the evening we ate lots of good, fried food, roasted s’mores, listened to guitarists and pretended we were cowboys. The best part of the night? Sana – novice bull rider – won the bull riding competition! View video above and pics below. I guess Sana found himself a summer job! Thanks to everyone who came out, and a big thanks to people who lost their voices while cheering for Sana (aka Sana’s fan club consisting of Nazanin, Kimiya, Negar, Nika, Shaadi, Alex, Mona, Roya, Bita, Wendy, Liz, Vic, Rauz and Trisha).

So… I know I’m a little late on the posting, but it is never too late to say CONGRATS! Sana’s graduation from UCLA was a couple weeks ago, complete with family, friends, bruins, and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who himself is a UCLA graduate (I can just imagine him walking out of AAP in Campbell Hall). The Mayor’s speech was actually very heartfelt and touching, I was surprised. Now it is onto the “real world” for Sana – whatever that means. Here’s to success and happiness!

Some people drink coffee to stay energized throughout the day. Some people do lines. This summer, the thing that’s had me keyed up comes in a crunchy cone. Allow me to introduce you to McDonald’s soft, fresh, vanilla ice cream. It’s been around for years, but it is hands-down the best ice cream that will ever grace your lips. And I’m not getting any money to endorse this – it’s just that good. So to anyone who hasn’t tried it yet, please contact me. I’ll take you out to experience the magic. But, I do warn. It is addictive. Even at 4 in the morning. XOXO.

This week I have been all about the WORLD CUP. I’m obsessed. It is a good way to build WORLD pride – all the different countries coming together, putting aside differences and celebrating the WORLD’S favorite sport. It is an influential dissolvent of national barriers and can even lead to decrease in crime and internet use! I’m also fascinated by the little factoids, i.e. Côte d’Ivoire calling a ceasefire during their civil war for the duration of the World Cup, Portugal playing its former colony Angola, the Serbia and Montenegro team representing a country that no longer exists (it split into two countries recently), King Mohammed VI of Morocco personally making sure that all of the games are being made available on state television.

And the funniest headline I have read so far: “Reality Czech,” after the Czech Republic defeated USA. More World Cup news to come later - I have to go wash my Beckham jersey in preparation for tomorrow’s match!

Congrats to Sogol and Sam! They had a very beautiful and very fun wedding, which I had the pleasure of attending this past weekend in Atlanta. There were some blasts from the pasts, lots of relatives and even new faces to meet. A big shout-out to the DJ, who kept us dancing all night long. Of course, pictures don’t do justice, but here are a few. Go to Nika’s page for much more photos she took. XOXO.
